What are the Gulf Business Awards?
The prestigious Gulf Business Awards cover a wide spectrum of economic sectors, from energy to real estate.
In each sector, a company and business leader of the year is recognised. The categories are; Banking, Real estate, Aviation and transport, Retail, Energy, Tourism and hospitality, Healthcare and SME.
In addition, the following awards are also presented: Lifetime achievement award, Businesswoman of the year, Innovator of the year.
From the winners, the shortlist will be selected for the prestigious accolade of overall ‘Gulf Business business leader of the year' and 'Gulf Business company of the year’.
Who attends the Gulf Business Awards?
Each year, the Gulf Business Awards celebrates regional titans of industry, government officials, small and medium-sized enterprises as well as entrepreneurs. The typical profile of our guest is aged 35 upwards with a mid-to-top level salary income bracket and high disposable income.
Professionally, GBA attendees are at the top of their game. Not only do they drive forward the corporate agenda, but they also drive the national and international agendas. Our audience consists of those who have contributed in raising the Gulf's profile, both regionally and internationally.
How can I nominate?
To nominate for the awards, in the business leader and company category please specify the category you are applying for (eg. Banking, Real estate, Aviation and transport, Retail, Energy, Tourism and hospitality, Healthcare, SME) and email your nomination in under 500 words to [email protected] Nominations close on May 15th. The shortlist are debated by our judging panel and made public in the August issue of Gulf Business magazine. The winners are announced at the awards ceremony on September 6th.
How are the winners chosen?
The shortlist of companies and business leaders are presented to our esteemed judging panel, they judge the nominations on the below criteria:
• Innovation: A company’s/business leader's ability to lead a sector through thought-leadership, continual innovation and cutting edge strategy.
• Growth/expansion: Company growth in the last year and expansion into new markets.
• Financial results: Company results in terms of assets, profits and turnover taken in a wider market context.
• Product quality: The ability to deliver exceptional, innovative, customer-orientated products of the highest quality.
• Service delivery: The ability to provide excellent service to all stakeholders including customers, partners and suppliers.
• Corporate social responsibility: A firm’s efforts to give something back to wider society in terms of mentorship, environmental concerns, charity and corporate social responsibility.
The two public voted categories, Entrepreneur of the year and Corporate social responsibility campaign are voted for our readers online from July 1st to August 31st. The votes are then independently counted and verified by our auditors Jacobsons Direct.

You can submit your vote online on the VOTE page. Voting opens from July 1st – August 31st 2016.
When will I know if I have been shortlisted for an award?
The Shortlist will be announced in the August issue of Gulf Business magazine. The Events Team will be in touch to let you know if you have been successfully shortlisted for an award.
How do I know if I’ve won?
The Awards will be presented to the winners at the awards ceremony. The award ceremony will take place on Sunday 10th September 2017.
Will I get any free tickets?
Those who have been successfully shortlisted will receive two complimentary invitations for the awards ceremony.
